Within the Oranfizer branch, the “Terre e Sole di Sicilia” Organization of Producers is the basis of the agricultural association. The Producers’ Organization brings together 115 members, producers of citrus fruits and more.
Together they husband over 1928 cultivated hectares, contributing to the production of over thousand metric tons of fruit and vegetables.
The agricultural businesses extend over the provinces of Catania, Syracuse, Ragusa and Enna.
The soil, methods of cultivation and the waters are constantly monitored.
Mostly grown are the citrus fruits and here are the main varieties:
- Blood oranges: Tarocco, Moro, Sanguinello;
- White oranges: Navelina, New Hall, W. Navel, Lane Late, Ovale, Valencia;
- Femminello lemon
- Common mandarin, Nova, Tacle, Avana, Tardivo, Clementine.
The varieties of cultivated fruit in the spread of groves of small and large producers, are ever more widespread and numerous:
- Cherry tomatoes of Sicily
- Pomegranate
- The Common or European pear of Etna
- Peaches, Nectarines, Saturn and Sbergie peaches
- Apricots
- Aubergine, Sweet Peppers, Courgettes.
