The pomegranate is a species traditionally found throughout Sicily since antiquity. In terms of commercial distribution, the Pomegranate cultivated in Sicily, Oranfrizer can claim to be a real pioneer, precursor and leader of the varietal and cultural innovation of the pomegranate.
The botanical name of the rounded fruit is balausta, and within it are to be found the very succulent edible arils. Both the flesh and the skin are of variable colour, from yellow-tannin to an intense red due to the presence of anthocyanin.
There are 3 types: bitter, bitter0seweet and sweet.
Over the last few years, the varieties Akko and Wonderful One have spread over the island and they present as larger and with a deep red colouration, both inside and outside.
