In Sicily, the most diffuse of the lemon varieties is the ‘Femminello’. The name is a particular one and refers to the softness of the plant’s characteristics which gives good productivity and frequent re-blossoming.
That of the Femminello lemon is amongst the most appreciated in Italy because of its organoleptic properties. The fruit has an unmistakable flavour; it is fresh, intense and aromatic over all its precious parts (flesh, juice, rind).
It is normally averagely large and very perfumed. Its flesh is 30% more juicy than other lemons. The colour of its rind goes from light green to intense yellow. It is homogenous and classy. Normally, it contains few pips.
The Femminello lemon can boast many beneficial properties due to its content of vitamin C and of citric acid, indispensable for the good functioning of our organism. It is particularly recommended for correct nutrition and for curing many pathologies. It is greatly appreciated for its anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory properties.
